My Story
My name is Heather Taggart and this is my story…My Scentsy journey began November 2006. While walking through the parade of homes, I asked a friend what smelt so good. She told me it was Scentsy. I had no idea what Scentsy was. She continued to tell me it was a candle. I was bummed. I explained to her that I had stopped using candles about a year before. I Loved candles but I had quit using them, because a friend of mine had a hard time breathing in my home when I would burn them. I had tried a few alternative systems to eliminate a flame yet still have my home smell the way I wanted it to. After finding an alternative to candles, I found myself still unsatisfied because of the amount I was spending each month on scents. She then continued to tell me Scentsy had no flame, soot, or wick. Wickless I thought? How could a candle be wickless I asked. She took me to the bedroom and showed me a darling decorative warmer, and told me it would not get hot enough to burn anyone. I couldn’t believe it. She also told me the Scentsy Bars were only $5. Only five Dollars! I asked how long it would last and she replied about 80 hours of the warmer being turned on. I was so excited! I asked her how I could get one and she told me I could do a party. I had never done a party in my life. I gave her my number and went on my way.Working long hours in a salon five days a week I was well known for not answering my phone. The Scentsy consultant tried calling me about three times to see when I would like to do a party. On her third try she left a message letting me know her calendar was getting booked and if I wanted to do a party I should hurry and call her back. I called her back and booked my party right away. I ended up doing a $1000 party and thought everyone that supported my party would have to buy from someone so it might as well be me. With the starter kit only costing $100 I knew I would easily be able to earn that money back. I figured I could work in my salon and while my client’s hair was processing they could smell the scents and reorder from me. My plan was to just make a little extra money by working smarter and not harder. My first week, I had two friends sign up on my team. My initial feeling was worry. I only signed up to do it on the side and I was scared I wouldn’t have time to help my team. The next month my paycheck pleasingly grew. In a short period of four months, I made the 30th Director of Scentsy with the help of my outstanding “Perfect Scents” team. When I received my first paycheck as a Director I refocused my goals with my Scentsy Business. I am now a Star Director with the help of 1,403 outstanding consultants in my group. March 2010 I got married to my amazing husband Seth and gained three darling step children. Our plan was for me to move to CT where Seth was stationed with the Navy. I was comforted to know I would be able to take my job with me anywhere Seth’s job took us. Six weeks before we were married the Navy let my husband go. Aug 2010 my husband got a job and then once again let go Jan 2011. During our first year of marriage we have had five surgeries in our family and braces.”Give more than you take” is a part of Scentsy’s values. I fully believe in the values Scentsy holds & I love the product we offer. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a generous company and to have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. With the help of my outstanding team, Seth & I have been blessed to pay cash for everything &provide for our families needs. My once personal business has now become our family business.
